Marathon Releases March 5th!

And you can play early! You heard that right!

Marathon announced at Yesterday’s State Of Play event that they’re releasing March 5th, but also, Bungie are hosting a Server Slam Event from Feb 26th – 2nd March across all platforms, basically a Marathon free trial (depending on subscription).

Apparently though a paid for subscription will be required on console. This is unusual, as normally, you only need an active subscription if the game you’re wanting to play online is a paid game. Games like GTA5 Online would require an active Game Pass or PS+ subscription, since you purchase the game, but others such as Fortnite or Warzone don’t require a subscription, as they are free to play – so do check before downloading the Server Slam to see if a subscription is required.

Hopefully that message is simply referring to the full game release though, which will open up access to millions more console payers to jump on and check out Marathon, and decide whether it really is a contender for Arc Raiders. You can check out the trailer for Marathon below.

Recently extraction shooters have definitely proved popular with Arc raiders vastly outselling expectations, but with the likes of Marathon releasing March 5th, and Sand: Raiders Of Sophie also releasing in March – although the date isn’t set yet – players will be spoilt for choice with new games.

Will you be Will you be extracting and heading out to Marathon or Sand: Raiders Of Sophie when they release? Or is Arc Raiders and Tarkov enough to keep you busy?

Marathon wasn’t the only thing to come out of State Of Play, we saw Many other games get further reveals such as 007: First Light, 4:Loop and probably one of the more ambitious – Project Windless.
