For those not in the know, Steam Next Fest has begun, and there is a lot to explore, now’s your chance to see what’s releasing soon, and maybe try out a few games before commiting to that purchase.
What Is Steam Next Fest?
Steam Next Fest is an opprtunity for developers to show off whats coming up, a bit like Summer Game Fest, but more immenent releases, and pretty much all on Steam.
These days, demos seem to be making a comeback, and for us consumers – that’s great! no more are we having to watch the clock for the next 2 hours to figure out if we actually like the game before deciding it’s not for us and having to go through the refund process, now we get full on demos, and some of them can provide hours of gameplay and Steam Next Fest is full of demos to try out.
1348: ex Voto is available to wishlist and play the demo, figure out if you’re going to like it before commiting for a purchase on full release, as well as Ranger’s Path: National Park Simulator or even 100 Cats Lost In World (seriously, where are all these cats coming from? There are like… 100 of these games).
They’re not all AAA quality games, most are from indie studios trying to carve their own path in the industry, but there are some gems hidden among the list, and the fact that most (if not all) have demos, that means there is a solid weekend of gaming ahead.
The great thing about Steam Next Fest, is it’s running it’s algorithm constantly – so while it seems like a random jumble for the couple of days, by Wednesday, you’ll start to see it shaping up a little better, showing better recommendations, and probably more tailored to the titles you’d like to play.

What? Steam Next Fest not got enough? Well sure, Arc Raiders have a new update today, introducing new Arc and Map Conditions, and Super Battle Golf dropped on Steam a few days ago, and that’s a “blast” with friends or randoms. You can check out our review of that here.
